Ok, technically Tuesday, but about Monday. :) I had "clinic" today, which was super fun. We do clinic simulations for the first 3 weeks so that we can learn the basics to not kill the poor guinea pigs that we learn on. We did pt movement today, including hydralic lifts which was a total hoot. We are all learning that modesty is a thing of the past with our fellow nursing student. When you are 4 feet in the air, cradled like a baby in a sling that goes up through your crotch and your butt is being aimed towards a wheelchair, you feel like you get to know people really quickly. :)
Couldn't sleep fabulously so I got up and did my pharmacology, which is a HUGE load off for the rest of the day. Not like I get to chilax or anything, just don't have to do my least favorite class, that's all. Now I can read for lecture and prep for lab, whoo hoo!
Oh, the panic of the day! I can't believe I forgot this. I was in the car, at Craig and Pecos when I realized that I don't have my watch on. I thought, crap! I hope that my clinical instructor is not one of those profs who is going to walk around checking our equipment, because if I don't have it, I lose 3% of my final grade and will not be able to stay for clinical. Yikes. About that time, I realized that I also do not have my nametag on. $h!t. I start digging through my purse, no nametag. Backpack=no nametag. So I call John, who is still home for lunch, and he can't find it either. Weighing being late with possibly being without a nametag, I opted for showing up on time. I was terrified. 3% is a lot to lose when 75% is an F. Not only that, but if I ever had a true emergency and couldn't make clinic, that is 2 clinic losses and I'm out of the program. Double yikes.
She never noticed. :) So I get home, tear the house apart looking, and cannot find it. Now I'm panicking again, because I'm realizing that it takes 7 business days to get new ones in at the bookstore after you order them and I have another lab and clinical in those next 7 days. Finally giving up and saying a couple of "Dear Lord, please help me survive without a nametag" prayers, I find it in the washing machine (with Payton's load of jean). Now John is saying that it probably just got tossed around from one of our loads and I never noticed it, but I know Payton, and his pockets are little treasure chests. He stashes all kinds of goodies in there. I have no doubts that he saw that thing, realized it has Mommy's name on it, and thought it was nifty enough to be saved. Good thing he's cute. ;)

Dad and I hope you found your watch too! What a cute story, that could have been bad but turned out okay. And yes, he is quite cute...
ReplyDeleteLoved the story about your clinical. How fascinating the things you are learning!
PS No worries about my birthday. I was busy working both jobs Friday, and had a crazy day on Saturday, then a weird day on Sunday with the demo department taking a dive.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how fast-paced the program is. We basically did CNA training in 6 hours yesterday. Next week is medication administration, and thank the Lord Almighty that we are not allowed to do anything "private" on our fellow students!
ReplyDeleteAn idea for you: Order an extra nametag or two for backup. Maybe even an extra watch that you can just keep in your car or backpack. I do that for Sam's, since we have to have our nametags to clock in. It eases the stress a lot! :) Love you!
